Who you gonna call? TGS Professional Services!

When a fault occurs at a set of temporary traffic signals it can be difficult to identify the root cause of the issue. Multiple stakeholders in any given project must quickly act to rectify the problem and minimise the impact caused to the travelling public while reducing costly project down-time.

Traffic Group Signals has invested heavily in its monitoring capabilities, and now has a range of tools that can be called upon if a fault arises, allowing the quick identification and resolution of any temporary signal-related issues.

Recently TGS received a phone call to its Pro Services team on behalf of the client urgently requesting an engineer due to a ‘hard fault’ that had occurred at a site in Central London.

Using remote monitoring tools, the team were quickly able to identify:

  • The lights were still running and had not suffered any Cat 1 faults.
  • On-site CCTV confirmed the lights were operational
  • The system had dropped off UTC
  • The system had diverted to running a CLF plan

Traffic Group Signals was able to conclude that the issue was likely a phone line fault and on that basis was able to refer the issue back to the client to arrange an investigation.

Overall, the actions of the TGS Professional Services team avoided an unnecessary callout from the traffic management provider, negated the need for a visit from a TGS engineer and enabled the client to identify the true cause of the issue much quicker, saving time, money and emissions arising from site visits.

This incident perfectly highlights the robust measures Traffic Group Signals has implemented to ensure its equipment performs safely, efficiently and reliably, even in the most challenging of applications.
