Carbon Reduction Plan
Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Traffic Group Signals is committed to reducing GHG emissions by 65% by 2030.

We are committed to achieving short-term science-based targets, aligned with the goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C, aiming to reduce our carbon footprint by an average of 85% by 2030.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions: – 65% absolute reduction by 2030 from a FY24 baseline.

In addition to our short term targets, we have also committed to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050 at the latest.

Supporting the UK’s most important transport infrastructure means that reducing our carbon emissions is a business imperative. These ambitious targets demonstrate our commitment to delivering our services in the most sustainable way possible and to provide maximum value for money to our customers.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, several positive measures have been implemented through 2024.  A strategy has been developed to reduce the overall emissions by 65% equating to a reduction of 224 TCO2 to a new baseline of 120 TCO2.

Actions from 2024

    • Additional Service Depots reduce the driving mileage of individual Service Engineers.
    • Expansion of Commercial Team will reduce individual driving mileage.
    • New energy efficient facility in Cheltenham equipped with solar panels will reduce the overall energy consumption being pulled from national supply.
    • Installation of vehicle charging points to support electric vehicles.
    • Plastics used in head shell manufacture returned to source when end of life for revert.
